Goodwill Games lost their reason for being with the end of the Cold War in 1990. Ted Turner wanted to create a international sporting competition free of the political turmoil that was interfering in the Summer Olympics. Other reason was Ted sold the games Time Warner Australia along with his TV networks Time Warner and they where not very profitable.
